Data Driven Kerala under the leadership of our CM the Crisis Manager
Never in the life time of Kerala have we been exposed to such transparency of data. Number of homes that lost electricity due to the disastrous 2018 floods and the number of homes reconnected, number of our own women, men and children in relief camps, and the number that left for home..so on and so forth CM has a bank of data at every press conference.
I am revisiting my blog on 21st march 2018 on Neighborhood Tree and Neighborhood Watch
Data is the driving force in the reconstruction of our dear state. Any change and reforms will be based on accurate data. Our Government is taking various measures to gather data and has appealed to every citizen to give accurate data about everything. Do not allow greed and desire to influence the accuracy of data.
I believe everything happens for a good reason, and it’s a matter of time. We have a great opportunity to create a safe and happy society supporting each other forever. We are seeing and experiencing the brotherhood of our fellow citizens and we should not let go, this amazing opportunity.
Sarkar and people can join hands together and create neighborhood family tree with the data that’s available about every family in the neighborhood, create WhatsApp groups to do the neighborhood watch, there can be groups for mothers, young men and women and volunteers etc. This will help us guard our streets, our society, our town, our district, our state and our country and soon it can be One World, One People.
This is easily done. We have a density of over 800 people per sq. km and at the moment we know everyone in every home near us, we were all together in the flood, we were all holding each other’s arm and many of us are in the camps eating, sleeping and living together. We can use the current camp living to collaborate better and lay the foundation for a better tomorrow in partnership with each other. Once we return we can keep tall walls and closed gates out of our community. We should be able to fearlessly leave our doors and windows open for air, light and neighbors.
This is a great opportunity to live in harmony and nourish relationships.
The fear of having details of young girls reaching wrong hands could be a concern, this social taboo is the one that has to change, and we have to get disciplined. Its ignorance and lack of decency that makes people behave in disrespectable manner to women. Once there is neighborhood watch; element of shame and fear will be induced and that will deter the indecent behavior. The openness in the society and the neighborhood family tree and neighborhood watch will prevent any such behavior. it also allows to spot such miscreants and take preventive and predictive actions than reactive. This will result in healthier and creative relationships between people. We have already experienced the essence of human relationship when people unknown to each one of us from far and wide came about and held our arm and cradled us to safety when life was at risk, we truly didn’t bother who rescued our lives, who fed us, who clothed us and who is cleaning our homes to settle us.
Operation Jalaraksha was a win win with people and technology collaboration, we have to continue that for a safe and secure society. The Neighborhood watch will be well connected and responsible. Any act of indiscipline and irresponsibility whether its spitting on the road or throwing rubbish on the road and public places or disrespectable behavior to anyone, immediate action can be taken, ignorance can be explained, we can raise our hands and speak up against the wrong and protect our people and nature.
Bigger crimes will be reported to the Police instantly through the grama panchayat WhatsApp group.
There shouldn’t be any more missing person ever; there shouldn’t be any act of violence and theft. Let’s create our own Mavelinadu in real.
Lets Rebuild a safe secure sensible Kerala and create an example for the whole world.
