Hope ..3
Kerala became a consumer society over time, with the recent advent of Corona challenges, every news warrants a thought and call for change.
I am not an expert in agriculture policies and practices, being a sustainable person I follow the simple lessons I learnt as a child from home and my inclination and desire to practice wherever I am.
I am quoting my maternal grandmother’s lament, if you use someone else’s hand to rest your head as a pillow, your head will hit the floor if he pulls his hand away.. so always use your own hand to sleep ON..
best said in Malayalam my mother tongue:
We have to get self-sufficient with our staple food and processing plants.
This is the time to change our outlook and adapt best practices and initiatives to be self-sufficient.
Growing staple food grains, vegetables, rearing animals and fish to meet our needs should never be a challenge.
We saw the painful act of throwing milk down the drain, setting up a milk powder factory should not be a challenge.
Similarly there are many sustainable practices to be adapted to make our state self-sustainable before the next challenge.
