Hope 15
21 days just flew past, and today it’s been extended for another 19 days until May 3, 2020. Time will fly just like the summer vacations. It’s high time we made a check and balance of the last 21 days activities and achievements. This grace period is to make necessary changes to the plan of action, to schedule activities which needs to be completed.
DO NOT WASTE TIME
START PLANNING FOR THE REST OF THE LOCKDOWN PERIOD
This is the best time to make commitments to reduce expenditure.
Chalk down the unnecessary expenses you were having and make a decision to control or quit
Smoking, excess alcohol usage, drugs, outings, compulsory shopping, fuel consumption, electricity and water consumption, cosmetics, food, soft drinks, pastries, sweets, junk food, shopping, unnecessary credit cards and subscriptions, unused memberships so on and so forth.
Learn home improvement tricks and trade, clean the roof, gutter, sink, learn basic plumbing, electrical works, change to energy saving bulbs, start kitchen garden, collection of rain water, prepare a system for compost, learn to recycle, reuse and reduce, to cook healthy, clean, wash clothes, iron clothes, sew, home repair, first aid, home medicines, washing dishes, basic vehicle repairs, to change a punctured tire, how to change oil in vehicles etc. etc.
Devote quality time to pray, meditate, communicate with family members, to debate and discuss certain topics of common interest, study, exercise read, make journals, do graphics, learn computer programs, painting, editing, movie making, pursue your talent, or your dream, sketch, draw, practice photography, dancing, singing, learn to ride bicycle. The list can be never ending, if each one of us can list down whatever is needed for surviving on our own, opportunities are limitless.
The Government’s can also look within and do a cleanup, there are an array of Commissions instituted by the Governments to give continuous job opportunities for retired gazetted officers. All retired personals should contribute to the Government as a service, a voluntary service without accepting any remuneration. Having said that travel allowance and such expenses can be claimed with proper documentations, however accepting salary, whatever the amount, should be stopped.
This has to be considered as a moral responsibility of the retired personals.
There are prominent citizens working in UN, WHO, WTO etc. who get close to the government machinery and politicians for getting a post in various commissions, they can participate but it should be as a service they should not take salary from the Government
Similarly there are many avenues where there can be cost cutting measures which can be taken immediately
TIME IS JUST NOT ENOUGH FOR SHAPING THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY
SAVE NATURE SAVE MANKIND
