Appa and Amma took me along to visit Thirumeni at the Bishops Palace in Pattom, Trivandrum. We drove up a majestic driveway with a slight curve like a C going up from the main road to the front portico. The building resembled a school, with a wide verandah, half wall adorned by pillars, with rooms on one side of the verandah.
We drove in our jet black beauty, KLC 2003 Morris Minor; it was quite early in the morning. We were taken straight to Thirumeni’s room in the first floor at the end of the long corridor. When he came out and addressed Appa as Kochappen, it was music to my ears.
He took us straight for breakfast, the most sumptuous food, crafted with care and love, except fish pretty much everything was from the backyard. Great taste, color, feel and we just enjoyed the tasty Kerala dishes.
After breakfast he took us through the farm in the property. It was paradise manicured to the finest details. The half an hour encounter was inspiring; every bit of green was sharing the same warmth and love Thirumeni had for them. They were so eager to talk to us, connect to us; the moss was collecting our data and passing on to the huge trees bearing fruits, the adakka maram (betel nut) had pepper vines. It was gorgeous to see the black gold in green on the vine it could make the most elegant necklace in tiny gold beads.
Nature is the best designer ever in color, form and function. The branches were playing a symphony greeting us and making way for the sun’s rays to fall on our cheeks and make us glow.
The cows lifted their head and nodded acknowledging our joy, the little goat was running all over trying to jump on two legs, the piglets were a treat to our eyes as I have not seen many other than in my school where there were a few and my Head Mistress always send us a few pounds for Christmas. The bulls were majestic, what intrigued me was the ducks and the turkey, they were quacking so loud for attention, we had to stop and feed them.
None of us wanted to leave the place, but there was a very important mission to accomplish, hence we had to say goodbye to the most amazing place on earth and leave for Nalanchira, where the Bethany Prakrithi Chikitsa Center was. Thirumeni got Amma introduced to the team at the Naturopathic Centre. They decided to admit Amma for a month. This was the first time Amma was admitted to a predictive maintenance center, not just preventive, till then she was always taken to Hospitals which are just reactive centers.
Every ailment starts from the Stomach, if your stomach is clean, healthy and you take care of what you deposit in your stomach, you can be in total control. This was the Doctor’s advice to all of us. Hunger, eating habits, digestion and excretion are the fundamental of most of the ailments in humans. If we manage our hunger and control what we eat, the time and quantity and if we drink enough water, walk regularly and make sure our body excretes waste regularly we can prevent a lot of illness.
The detox session started with a lot of natural vegetarian food, along with Enema with plain water. Until then I had never known, heard or seen an Enema Can. The Doctor gave Amma a very simple device, a container like a glass in plastic, with a hole in the center of the base, molded with a plastic tube with a nozzle at the end all in plastic, easy to clean and can be used on your own. This device was put to good use all her life.
Later we bought many Enema Cans and I have found this the most priceless possession in my life if you want to be in total control especially for a frequent traveler, who has to live in many places and at different time zones eating different cuisines. Constipation can be addressed to a great extend with the Enema Can. It has never proved harmful. Amma’s health improved and her skin started glowing with the detox. Her lungs performed better.
